[Chuuya is tying the ropes carefully around Dazai, making sure they're secure enough to stop him wiggling free. He's not trying to cut off any circuclation, though he's angry enough that he's a little bit tempted, just to make it that extra bit uncomfortable. After a second's consideration he decides not to - this is supposed to be a punishment, not murder.
He's not saying much as he works. He's saving it for later. Dazai knows what he did, anyway. Chuuya is sick of his games, sick of the--
He's not sure. The truth is, he doesn't really care when Dazai humiliates him in some way. It's just what they've always been doing to each other, and he's not sure he'd know how to do it any different, not to mention he's pretty sure changing it would mean distancing themselves again. And that thought scares him. So normally he'd pick a fight, throw a couple of punches, then move on, but this time... This time, Dazai's little prank didn't target just him. It got in the way of a job he was doing for the Organization.]
Not even gonna try to get out of it?
[He's surprised Dazai is letting him do this. There's no time-sensitive mission Dazai has to get back to, which Chuuya could leverage against him. Chuuya hadn't even tried. He'd just grabbed Dazai, and dragged him into his home dojo, where rings on the ceiling usually hold his actual punching bag, as opposed to his ex-partner shaped one. That's where he'll be hanging Dazai from this time.
He double checks that Dazai's hands are tied - of course Dazai can undo it, but even he would need a few moments - before deciding, just to be a dick, to bring the rope down and between Dazai's legs as well, so that if he squirms, that's where it will pull the most. And then he immediately starts lifting him up so he's hanging upside down by his legs.]
[Well, there they go... Dazai can't say he's looking forward to this, but he's just going to have to put up with it. He messes with Chuuya all the time - it's something of a hobby, one could say, even when it isn't work! - but he is very much aware that he went rather far this time. He had excellent reasons for doing so, very much business over pleasure, but that's not going to make Chuuya's desire for vengeance any less. Rather than risk a confrontation in the middle of the city, or even at the Agency, Dazai decided to just face the music, let Chuuya blow off some steam, and move on from it all. It's certainly not his favorite way of handling things, but all in all, it's easily the wisest decision in terms of pros and cons, in this specific case.
Besides, maybe by making it so easy for Chuuya, it will take most of the satisfaction away? Dazai can hope!]
No. [His tone extremely bored, he says it almost like a question, because why would he try to get out of it? If that was his plan, he wouldn't be here now. (He might not even be in the country! But that option, too, had too many downsides.)] This is going to save us both a lot of time, don't you think?
Just do what you need to do, and let's get this over with.
[He definitely is preparing to free himself quickly just in case, of course. But he's going to try and do this legitimately first, for as long as he can put up with it. He's definitely expecting this to be unpleasant, but that's just how it is.
Besides, if he gets even a little bit injured, it'll be a good excuse to call in sick for a week or so, right? So it'll all even out.]
[The indifference from Dazai is frustrating. He does know that it's an act, that Dazai hates letting anyone get even a slight win against him (especially Chuuya), but he's angry and he wants the satisfaction of seeing and hearing that he's getting to Dazai, too. He wants, at the very least, a slight sign of regret, even though Dazai definitely this possibility into consideration when he did what he did.]
I won't go easy on you, then.
[Not if Dazai is going to have that attitude.
He's in trouble with Mori. Some of his subordinates will be working overtime to try to fix this, when they deserve their time off, and Chuuya is going to have to make that up to them. And he's terrified that he and Dazai are going to have to end this... pretense they've had going, and go back to being actual enemies. That's a feeling he's definitely not allowed to actually have, and it only fuels his anger more as he starts to pull on a loose rope, causing Dazai to spin. It's not too fast yet, but combined with the blood rushing to his head from being upside down, it's effective. It's not the first time they've done this. And he wants Dazai to be able to talk for now.]
While I'm keeping you here, my subordinates are fixing your mess.
[Though with the changes they now have to make, Dazai is probably getting the result he wanted anyway. That's the problem with him - he's always too many steps ahead.]
Was getting me into trouble necessary or just a bonus?
[Ah, how distasteful... The slow start doesn't make Dazai feel any better, nausea rising in spite of his best intentions. The headache from hanging upside down is already not helping, either. He'd say he can't believe they're going back to this ancient method of punishment for them, but he absolutely can. Chuuya has never been very creative, after all.
... Dazai elects not to point that out - at least not yet. The plan is really to try to stoneface his way through this, and free himself only if he really can't take it anymore. Why should he show any emotion, anyway? Chuuya may expect it, but that doesn't mean that Dazai feels it. Honestly, the main reason why he doesn't play - the amicable kind - with Chuuya more often is that the guy can never separate business from pleasure. It was bound to come to something like this, with Chuuya buttmad over something purely professional that he would have done the exact same way in Dazai's position. (Well... less competently, but still.)]
You know... that messing with you has always been a hobby. [Talking really doesn't improve how he's feeling, but he doesn't think he can avoid it. Maybe that's why he said something so unnecessarily blunt, a petty revenge of his own in spite of this whole situation.] You also know that work always takes precedence.
If Mori ordered it, Chuuya would work against Dazai's little Agency. If it was necessary for the protection or well-being of the Organization, he wouldn't even hesitate. That's his responsibility as an Executive, and it's the loyalty that Mori has earned, over the years that Chuuya has worked for him already. Chuuya owes him everything. He would give him anything. The fact that it means Dazai is right helps exactly nothing.
Everything between them is a mess. The right thing to do would definitely be to end it. He's thought about it before, but apparently he's too selfish to do it, a fact he's still angry with himself over as well. So instead, he'll have this. He'll make Dazai hate it, too.]
Just shut up. [The fact that Chuuya has been asking questions is irrelevant.] I don't really care if you get me into trouble anyway.
[He definitely shouldn't admit that. He spins Dazai a little faster to cover it up. It's satisfying to hear him struggling to speak.]
If you keep pulling crap like that, the Organization won't be able to just ignore it.
[Though for now, Mori seems fine to let Dazai get away with it, even as Chuuya does not.]
[Ahhh there it goes... Fortunately Dazai hasn't eaten much - half old habit and habit deliberate precaution (though frankly he would have expected a punch to his stomach sooner than this), so there's not a whole lot that can come out. That doesn't keep him from feeling sick, though, and his annoyance at Chuuya's deliberate stupidity doesn't improve his mood, either.]
Trouble... Hah.
[He really shouldn't be speaking, but he's annoyed, and while he considers himself much smarter than Chuuya, he definitely isn't more mature.]
You always think... it's all about y-...
[Clenching his jaw, he doesn't quite manage to finish his word, but he thinks he made his very petty point there. Really, though, why would Dazai not do something important for the Agency, just because it would cause trouble for the Mafia in general, and Chuuya in particular? Is he supposed to hold back, just because they know each other? (Dazai has known Mori even longer!) Or just because they have sex sometimes? Maybe he does care about Chuuya in his own way, but why on earth would that ever make a difference in business? Not to mention that Chuuya, as Mori's favorite lap dog, has relatively little to fear.
As for a hypothetical revenge from the Organization: Dazai really does consider that unlikely, but that doesn't mean that he hasn't taken any measures (a wide variety of them, in fact) to ensure his safety, both directly and indirectly.]
If they want... to come at me... let them!
[Ohgods he's really going to throw up if this keeps going... But now he's in such a sour mood that he's trying to hold back in spite of his intentions to just suffer and be done with it.]
[ the turn of a key, then an open door. someone switching on the hallway lights before discarding something by the entrance before stepping in.
dostoevsky appears a moment after, devoid of his usual white coat and ushanka he looks cartoonishly normal. as if part of his myth is also embued into his particular choice of clothing. everything he's wearing now is black and grey, plain and muted. easy to forget and easy to blend in. though that is a deception that would never fool anyone who knew what dostoevsky is capable of.
still, this whole thing is a surprise.
two things happen in quick, almost imperceptible succession. the first is the flicker of surprise, the slight widening of eyes as he sets them on dazai, the rope and then chuuya before turning back to dazai. the second is subtler, a twitch of the fingers, so easy to miss for anyone who is not dazai and a gesture that betrays fyodor so utterly and completely, he'll want to cut off his hand later. it's a telltale sign of the impulse to help dazai. it happened without thought or consent, an automatic reaction that has surely been implanted to him in his time as the ada's latest charity case. (or leashed dog, as it may be).
well, alright then. ]
Dazai, I was wondering why you were late. [ a lie. they had not made plans to meet, in fact, fyodor probably has no acceptable reason to be here but given that he'll lie.
it is easy. lying is like breathing and it gives him a moment to piece what he's looking at because...
he'd be lying if he denied feeling amusement at seeing dazai dangle like a puppet. ]
[He'd been a bit too caught up in this argument, which means it takes him several moments longer than it should to notice that another person has apparently invited themselves in. Dazai is pissing him off more by the second, and he's thinking he should just shut him up instead of letting him argue, spin him faster until he's satisfied and then throw Dazai out of his apartment once they're done.
But none of that matters when he realizes there's an intruder. Where Dostoevsky's reaction was subtle, Chuuya's is anything but: He immediately moves to place himself directly between Dazai and the door, switching to a defensive stance, eyes hard as he prepares to fight. None of that changes once he sees who it is.]
What the hell are you doing here?
[Behind him, Dazai's spinning is coming to a stop, and the only thing preventing Chuuya from launching himself at Dostoevsky is the fact that he's still holding the rope that carries Dazai's weight. He doesn't actually want to drop his piece of shit of an ex-partner on his head, no matter how tempting it sometimes is.]
Actually, I don't really care. You're not invited.
because fyokoku waits for no one (though apparently must still wait for work -_-)
[Even Dazai, spinning around in a miniature hell of nausea, is a moment later than he should have been to realize they have a visitor, but he's literally incapable of mentioning it at the time, nor does he feel especially inclined to try. Whoever it is, Chuuya will take care of it.
That assessment changes, however, when Dazai sees who it is, his gaze briefly every bit as shocked as Fyodor's... though, honestly, it's hard to say what a normal expression for him would be under these weird and unusual circumstances. Not good, every fiber of his being screams. Dazai could have brushed off literally anyone catching him in this position, but not Fyodor. This was not part of his risk assessment at all, and suddenly things have gone from "annoying but necessary" to "this could become genuinely bad, so let's not".
That finger-twitch of Fyodor's is awfully nice to see, though. Even Chuuya's predictable overprotective reaction is almost sort of cute. But neither of those things is going to keep Dazai from trying to free his wrists, or at least prepare for being able to get free quickly when the need arises. It will still take him a lot longer than it should, though, when he's hanging upside down and spun around to the point of almost vomiting.]
I got... [he responds to Fyodor, throwing out a word or two every time he completes another spin and faces the man again] ... a little... tied up!
[Yes, he absolutely did still have to go there, in spite of the frankly worrying circumstances he's suddenly found himself in.
But after that, when the world stops being a centrifuge and Chuuya and Fyodor are engaged in conversation, with Chuuya conveniently blocking Dazai from view (well... part of Dazai anyway!), Dazai is absolutely starting on his escape, because nope, nope, nope. Chuuya is annoying but predictable; Fyodor is only predictable in how he can make every situation terrible with minimum effort.
[ someone put this on his gravestone: only predictable in how he can make every situation terrible with minimum effort because it is too true. it does not take fyodor long to assess the situation or to figure out the advantage of being hidden behind chuuya gives dazai.
unexpected situation and he has the choice of watching dazai escape and having to make a run for it himself to avoid chuuya's own temper or to let it play out by: ]
Dearest, darling Dazai [ he croons, leaning to the side to try and see what he is doing because in this room the one true threat to dostoevsky will be dazai. not that chuuya couldn't do serious damage but ultimately, it is dazai who holds the leash. ] What a bind the godling has got you in. [ because, honestly, chuuya is silly to turn his back on dazai and fyodor isn't making that mistake.
and if they want to play ... whatever it is they are playing at (which he can make an intelligent guess as to what and why, it just isn't of concern to him) he can probably get a few hours unsupervised to do whatever he wants to in yokohama.
oh, dazai is right. this situation could be genuinely bad. ]
[When Dostoevsky moves, Chuuya does too, making sure to stay directly between them. He's not trying to shield Dazai from view, though he knows Dazai will take advantage of it, he just doesn't trust this damn rat not to try something. And right now he's the only one who's allowed to hurt Dazai.
He also knows that Dazai is going to get free. His damn ex-partner could have gotten out of this from the start.]
Maybe I should tie you up next. Leave you hanging until you pass out.
[It's not much of a threat, but it's not meant to be. He knows Dostoevsky won't leave just becaue Chuuya tells him to, either, so right now he's just letting his anger build. The soft karate tatami is being pressed down as Chuuya lets himself grow heavy, a visible warning.
He's waiting for the moment when Dazai's weight disappears from the rope he's holding. He doesn't care if they know that he's ready to act.]
[Fyodor's move is predictable, but still, what a shame... Dazai will get there in the end, though. Slowly but surely he'll turn so that his hands are facing away from the two-man audience, and then he does he can. He has half a mind to continue in plain view, regardless of Fyodor being aware of what he's doing, and see if they can gang up on Chuuya, but it's a tricky thing to tempt a rat when you are cornered. (Besides, frankly Chuuya doesn't require ganging up on. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ )]
Hmm, divine punishment isn't as bad as it's cracked up to be. Or should that be "cracked down"..?
[With his hands free, he soon hops out of the ropes as if there was nothing holding him there in the first place. There's not a cut on those ropes, either: he really just snuck out somehow. Landing neatly on his feet with a soft thud on the mat, he rubs at his wrists.
As for tying up Fyodor:]
Has my vote!
[He's not actually in any hurry to try helping with that, though, standing where he landed. He has nothing to fear from Chuuya's ability, but he also doesn't see why he should do anything to help Chuuya when Chuuya so rudely tied him up. Besides, it's not like Dazai wants Fyodor tied up. He just wouldn't mind it. A big difference!]
[ given his anaemic constitution it would not take long to make him pass out if hung upsidedown. so, fyo closes his fist very determined not to end up in that predicament, even if he must turn the situation bloody. (or actually, maybe he hopes it will turn bloody because this is in no way his fault, ending up here had been a pure stroke of (lack of) luck). let's not but protests would be taken as fear or invitation, both maybe. and he's not in the mood to deal with that when he'd dropped in with other intentions in mind.
not that fyo is about to admit to a)wanting company b)wanting a roll in the sheets with dazai.
and great, now dazai is free. there goes any potential fun for the evening. he makes a note to continue chipping away at chuuya's ...chuuya-ness to make him, if not trust, at least lower his guard a little. fyo is patient. none of this changes anything, he's still going to kill them all when he can. though it better be sooner rather than later, before he becomes too complacent in his indulgences with dazai; before the pings in his phone for individuals who are not his rats become habit; before nikolai manages to kill him for real. ]
Ah, well. It seems like I've ruined your evening. [ to chuuya; then to dazai— a slight tilt of the head, a warning. ]
[Chuuya doesn't trust Dostoevsky at all. He trusts Dazai, trusts the weird complicated way that their (ex-)partnership has always worked, even though he also knows Dazai loves to test Chuuya's limits... But the point is that Dazai isn't the issue here, even if he does decide to be a dick.
Dostoevsky could do so much more damage. He could be here to hurt either of them (he doubts it), or he could just be here to fuck with them. He could reveal too much. The last thing Chuuya wants is for Dazai to find out that Chuuya has had sex with this rat.
But more importantly: Chuuya was in a bad mood already, and he doesn't want him here. This was between him and Dazai. Not that he says that, or anything yet. What he does do is move.
The tatami under him rips as he jumps, caught in his gravity. He lands next to Dazai and spins, before grabbing Dazai by the arm and shoulder, careful not to touch skin. Dazai is safe from being affected by his Ability, true, but he can't cancel momentum, and that's what Chuuya is using to fling him forwards towards Dostoevsky. His plan is to use Dazai to shove the damn rat up against the wall, grab Dazai's hand, and slap it against Dostoevsky's neck, the whole thing happening at impossible speed.
He doesn't trust that Ability of his. But he trusts Dazai's. He's also going to put himself in between them again in case the rat has any other tricks to try, even if holding Dazai's hand in place means Tainted can no longer protect him.
And then he's going to press a knife up under his jaw.]
You did ruin my evening.
[He feels better now, though. He's wanted to hurt this rat for a while.]
One of you give me a good reason why I shouldn't kill you both.
[They all know he wouldn't kill Dazai.]
listen we all know Chuuya's world is black and white
[If Dazai's mood was bad, too, it's considerably improved now that he's free again. Not that he's going to thank Fyodor for the distraction or anything, but this still cuts an awkward session of suffering would-be revenge short, and that's worth something.
Until Chuuya creates Osamu Airlines, and that was not what Dazai had in mind.
Maybe he estimated Chuuya's hatred of Fyodor too high; definitely hanging upside down all that time still had his responses slower than they ought to be. Regardless, there really isn't a lot one can do against Chuuya's sheer strength unless you're aware it's coming... and even then your odds are only about 50-50.
And so Dazai finds himself flying at Fyodor, crash landing before being yoinked up by his arm as Chuuya awkwardly stands between them. Touching Fyodor is the one thing Dazai doesn't especially mind, though.]
Let it go, Chuuya. [He makes a mental note to himself to put Chuuya's face on Elsa for some especially trashy videos.] Dos-kun here doesn't have as much patience as I do.
[Ha....haha....... but, listen, he puts up with a lot from Chuuya, and that totally counts as patience, even if he does more to Chuuya in return.
Meanwhile he is definitely not letting go of Fyodor until this situation is resolved. No offense, Fyo, but you can't kill Dazai's toys. Not without his say-so.]
time for everyone to fly osamu airlines (LMK IF THIS IS OK.....)
[ ow. the wall is hard against his back, all bones as fyodor is he doesn't have the padding to soften the rough landing. honestly, these airlines better reimburse his money. and ah, that knife, that familiar hand held against his neck.
fyodor meets dazai's eyes, rictus grin widening grotesquely. well, dazai did warn chuuya. crime and punishment is sleeping beneath no longer human— humming through arteries and veins, to the beat of fyodor's heartbeat. an even pace despite the promise of pain, which fyodor can withstand but does not care to unless it is necessary. he tolerated ace breaking that bottle over his head only because he'd get to kill him later. in this instance the rules are different, not only is chuuya significantly more powerful and important on the board, but—
dazai is entwined with this godling. it is plain to see, how their relationship unfolds in front of his mind. the interactions here filling in whatever doubts and blanks he'd had before. fyodor doesn't know everything; the different shades that colour human interactions are present but not always taken into account. a mistake, dazai had said, not to take into account the spark that drove humans. hadn't nikolai said something along the same lines too? yes, fyodor vaguely remembers.
there is a scalpel up the sleeve of his right hand, without tainted he could sacrifice his throat to deliver an equally fatal blow. he weights that option, eyes turning back to chuuya. but but—
dazai had said he would show him what made humanity — what dazai sees in them. and fyodor had agreed to it. it had not been a binding contract but he feels compelled to honour the agreement. what a strange sentiment to have for someone who discards people at breakneck speed. the conflict is present, deep beneath the amethyst shade of his eyes, hard. ]
I believe, Dazai [ spoken slowly as he feels the cut of the knife on his neck, caused in part by leaning into it forward to push his face closer to chuuya. the words also carefully chosen for dazai's benefit: i won't kill him for this. i won't even maim him permanently for it. ] our agreement allows for self-defence. [ and then ignoring how the knife digs in, dostoevsky bites chuuya hard in the juncture between neck and collar, where the shirt exposes pale skin. hard enough to draw blood, not deep enough to tear the skin.
this is what you get for making him bleed without permission. ]
[Chuuya yelps as Dostoevsky suddenly bites, body jerking like he'd meant to jump back, but he's standing too close, and Dazai is effectively boxing him in. Chuuya had put himself in this position.
His knee comes up, hitting the rat right in the stomach, hard.
Then he lets go of Dazai's hand to grab the rat by the hair, yanking his head back. He keeps his grip tight.]
Wrong answer.
[He can feel blood trickling downwards, under his shirt, but he ignores it, ignores the throbbing pain from the bite. It doesn't even register on the scale of pain he's already survived. His eyes are hard now, anger only building; at this situation, at the two of them, at whatever the hell that agreement is, and at the way they're not taking him seriously enough.
And at the fact that Dazai is protecting a rat, though he has noticed that Dazai is protecting him, too.
But he's no longer holding onto Dazai, which means he can use Tainted again, if Dostoevsky wants to try to hurt him some more. He grins, cold, and drags the knife downwards, leaving behind a shallow cut. Then he turns to look at Dazai instead, since Dostoevsky apparently doesn't see the need to save himself.]
You have thirty seconds to tell me why I should let him live.
too small, not very tasty, likely to give you indigestion... yeah, sure sounds like him!
[Chuuya may not be holding Dazai's hand in place anymore, but Dazai still keeps it where it was - and he'll find some subtle place to touch Chuuya too, like that awkward side mullet. He doesn't especially want this to escalate.
But it's already escalated, and it keeps escalating further, and as easy as it would be to force a truce, if not accomplish actual peace, when both Fyodor and Chuuya are basically putting him on the spot, Dazai loses all interest in doing so. Does he really want them to kill each other? No. But he's already had a shitty time, and the last thing he wants is to put actual effort into stopping not just one, but two murder machines.]
... Don't wanna.
[And with that, he stops touching Chuuya and Fyodor both, and turns his back to walk away, stretching a particularly painful arm that got the rough end of his crash landing on a rat. He turns the movement into a half-assed wave on his supposed way out.]
If you want to, go ahead~
[Maybe it's a clever ploy to give them a common enemy, instead of killing each other.
Maybe he's just super lazy, and also wouldn't mind the attention.
Maybe all of the above! Picking only one option is for losers, anyway.]
[ self-defence is a flexible term, fyodor has come to find that it suits as an excuse to kill, maim or harm another; he could lie and say there is no other choice but to apply crime and punishment in this situation. it wouldn't even be a complete lie either but, more than what consequences await him for bending the rules, fyo does not want to end chuuya's life here. he's had him under his command before, vampire parts aside, and dostoevsky enjoyed it. that alone grants a bit of grace if nothing else.
the blow to his stomach will bruise; aches, now despite the way he stares dully at chuuya, hair fisted. ah, fyo thinks abstractly, that if he were to die here it would be pretty interesting. would chuuya snap his neck? or slam him on the floor until all his bones broke? not wanting or wanting to die has nothing to do with this train of morbid thoughts. his mind always does this, unfolding before his eyes a variety of futures, all possible and unlikely in their individual ways.
dostoevsky's bloodied mouth smiles up at chuuya, tendons in his neck protesting at the angle he's being held. the dullness recedes like the tide, replaced quickly by invitation. if dazai is done playing here, fyodor is happy to fill in -not upside down, no, but there are many ways to skin a cat. or a shear a sheep, as the case may be.
his hands are free, up close like this he slides a palm along the edge of chuuya's pants, stopping very deliberately in the middle, thumb playing with the zipper before dostoevsky stills again.
and really, he's not willing to give dazai any crumbs after he'd just so very rudely left him to die at chuuya's hands. ]
[When Dazai walks away, Chuuya tenses, almost imperceptibly but still there. He doesn't know how Dostoevsky's Ability works, what it really is, which means that without No Longer Human to cancel it, fighting him has quickly become a huge risk. And he's probably already pissed off the rat.
He doesn't make another move, not yet. He pulls his knife back a fraction, and waits to see what might happen, ready to react, to counterattack, to crush him with Tainted if he decides to kill Chuuya now.
He wasn't prepared for that.
Now, Chuuya actually freezes, eyes going wide with surprise and clear horror as he feels that hand on his crotch. Dazai can't see this. Dazai can't find out. And the worst part is, he kind of wants it.
Chuuya jumps back fast, making sure to keep his back to Dazai. He's blushing.]
Dazai, if you're leaving, take your damn rat with you.
[Maybe Dazai should have expected a move like that from Fyodor. Maybe he did expect a move like that from Fyodor - the guy must have come here for some reason, after all, and Chuuya's type is all too obvious - but what he didn't expect was the way it makes him feel, even if there's no good reason for that.
Still, while he may slow down almost imperceptibly, he takes another step, and another, because he shouldn't feel anything, surely? So why would he bother to? His old conclusion that anything worth having is lost to him the moment he obtains it can clearly only affect him if he acknowledges said "anything" as worth having in the first place.
He does, however, come to a stop when Chuuya calls out to him.]
I know you won't, Chuuya. You're not into suicide, after all.
[Let that one sink in for a moment, why don't you? Or don't, and realize what he meant a little later.
Siiiiiiiiiigh okaaaay Dazai is doing this, he guesses. How dare you both make him do a thing, to be honest?! He turns around, looking at Fyodor, his voice and expression both extremely bored.]
Fyo-chan, could you not enrage the Chuuhuahua? I know he's tempting to poke at, but I promise you his bite is worse than yours.
[ maybe, agreeing to the terms he had with the ada had been a mistake. aimless, under dazai's observations, and with crime and punishment monitored he has effectively trapped himself in a more effective way than any of the traps in meursault. and maybe seeing all of this humanity, being forced to engage it is bad for his own peace of mind.
but he tolerates this, as much as he tolerates being manhandled despite absolutely disliking it. fyo is patient, he will bide his time with both men in this room, for different reasons.
now that chuuya has released him, fyo runs a hand through his hair smoothing the strands from said grip. where he stands, between chuuya and dazai and out of touch from both of them is a better strategic position. back still pressed against the wall, he is rather still because while chuuya can hit much harder that knee before still hurt. ]
I've never bitten you before, Dazai. [ deliberately he uses his thumb to wipe his mouth clean of chuuya's blood. it's fine, it was just a nibble. no real damage done.
but he will take invitations where he sees them, even if they are not. ]
We are all already here, let's compare.
[ a few steps taken towards dazai before he presses his mouth to dazai's neck, if allowed. look, this man does not care, it's not like it's a secret that a lot of the pliancy fyodor demonstrates stems directly from his relationship with dazai. pushing their boundaries means he's not out there pushing for the end of the world, or whatever. ]
[It takes a second. He's still recovering from being groped in front of Dazai, and the knowledge that Dazai definitely knows now. That bastard always picks up on these things, even when there's no way to pick up on it, especially when it's something he can use to make fun of Chuuya later, and Chuuya is already regretting so many decisions, current and past.
And he's still worried about the rat's Ability, so at first he just thinks that Dazai is suggesting they'd both die, if Chuuya tried anything, because his Ability would work as a backlash. It's not until the Chuuhuahua comment that it sinks in.]
I'm not your damn pet.
[Anger is immediately bursting through the surface. It's not the same kind of anger from earlier, though, this one is more defensive, embarrassed.]
I should hang you back up.
[Even if Dazai did also compliment him, technically. He rubs at the back of his neck, winces when he accidentally rubs at the bitemark, and then just stares at Dostoevsky walks over to Dazai. He's not sure if he should be jealous. No, that's insane, he's not jealous, he really doesn't give a shit.
[Don't throw around your lack of biting Dazai as a complaint, when it was your own choice to refrain! Maybe Dazai shouldn't have corrected Fyodor like that when refusing a bite from Fyodor might have made him look better in front of Chuuya... but he does so anyway, because who honestly needs to try impressing Chuuya when Chuuya is so easy to impress? Honestly, only angering him is easier.
Q.E.D.
In spite of saying what he just did, Dazai might still refuse Fyodor if he had a good reason to... but he doesn't really, so why would he? It's just a bite, and rats do seem like the type to eat absolutely anything, so there's no shame in being on the same menu as Chuuya. Dazai does have all those bandages, however! Fyodor will have to bite high.
Dazai probably won't react much, unless Fyodor really goes for the kill. Or unless things take too long and Dazai decides it would be amusing to act seriously hurt just to freak out Chuuya - but considering Chuuya is already homicidal, he'll probably have to refrain for now.]
[ a mutter, only for dazai's ears: ] Always with the pet names, Dazai. You might give people the wrong idea. [ every situation he knows how to make worse, he has ideas in his mind, a reflection of scenarios dazai surely shares in. there are nuances between them, the shades of grey that colour their respective worlds but they are birds of a feather; what fun would it be to simply tear the skin here? he's not hungry though the utter apathy aimlessness is causing him tempts him.
the tip of his tongue along the curve of dazai's jawline, slowly moving downward and ending where the bandages start. open mouth and deliberate, his teeth close down on the bandage and he pulls lightly before letting it go. up, up, his tongue trails, beneath the jawline and he nips.
chuuya and dazai, however are two different beasts who hide their soft underbellies in distinct manners. dazai's is harder to find, even harder to pierce but chuuya's is difficult to touch if only because his ability is overwhelmingly powerful and unpredictable. ]
Ah, I wonder which one of you will try to kill me first. [ because it would be one of them, at the end of all things, who would try to deal the final blow before fyodor completed his plans.
perhaps gogol, but the clown has been silent lately. most likely occupied with terrorising sigma and the world in his pursuit of free will. ] Just don't hang me upside, godling. Be quick about it when you decide to do it.
suicidallying + supplicium

So it'll all even out.]
no subject
Was getting me into trouble necessary or just a bonus?
no subject
It's the same for you, Chuuya.
no subject
[Though for now, Mori seems fine to let Dazai get away with it, even as Chuuya does not.]
no subject
Trouble...
But now he's in such a sour mood that he's trying to hold back in spite of his intentions to just suffer and be done with it.]
arrives late with starbucks and this rat
dostoevsky appears a moment after, devoid of his usual white coat and ushanka he looks cartoonishly normal. as if part of his myth is also embued into his particular choice of clothing. everything he's wearing now is black and grey, plain and muted. easy to forget and easy to blend in. though that is a deception that would never fool anyone who knew what dostoevsky is capable of.
still, this whole thing is a surprise.
two things happen in quick, almost imperceptible succession. the first is the flicker of surprise, the slight widening of eyes as he sets them on dazai, the rope and then chuuya before turning back to dazai. the second is subtler, a twitch of the fingers, so easy to miss for anyone who is not dazai and a gesture that betrays fyodor so utterly and completely, he'll want to cut off his hand later. it's a telltale sign of the impulse to help dazai. it happened without thought or consent, an automatic reaction that has surely been implanted to him in his time as the ada's latest charity case.
hello it is 6am and i am not asleep why
You're not invited.
because fyokoku waits for no one (though apparently must still wait for work -_-)
miniaturehell of nausea, is a moment later than he should have been to realize they have a visitor, but he's literally incapable of mentioning it at the time, nor does he feel especially inclined to try. Whoever it is, Chuuya will take care of it.That assessment changes, however, when Dazai sees who it is, his gaze briefly every bit as shocked as Fyodor's... though, honestly, it's hard to say what a normal expression for him would be under these weird and unusual circumstances.
You know, much like Dazai himself.]

unexpected situation and he has the choice of watching dazai escape and having to make a run for it himself to avoid chuuya's own temper or to let it play out by: ]
Dearest, darling Dazai [ he croons, leaning to the side to try and see what he is doing because in this room the one true threat to dostoevsky will be dazai. not that chuuya couldn't do serious damage but ultimately, it is dazai who holds the leash.
i love getting to use this icon
He also knows that Dazai is going to get free. His damn ex-partner could have gotten out of this from the start.]
Maybe I should tie you up next. Leave you hanging until you pass out.
[It's not much of a threat, but it's not meant to be. He knows Dostoevsky won't leave just becaue Chuuya tells him to, either, so right now he's just letting his anger build. The soft karate tatami is being pressed down as Chuuya lets himself grow heavy, a visible warning.
He's waiting for the moment when Dazai's weight disappears from the rope he's holding. He doesn't care if they know that he's ready to act.]
ohnoes, the chuuhuahua is angry!
A big difference!]
i need more icons because GREEDtm
not that fyo is about to admit to a)wanting company b)wanting a roll in the sheets with dazai.
and great, now dazai is free. there goes any potential fun for the evening. he makes a note to continue chipping away at chuuya's ...chuuya-ness to make him, if not trust, at least lower his guard a little. fyo is patient. none of this changes anything, he's still going to kill them all when he can. though it better be sooner rather than later, before he becomes too complacent in his indulgences with dazai; before the pings in his phone for individuals who are not his rats become habit; before nikolai manages to kill him for real. ]
Ah, well. It seems like I've ruined your evening. [ to chuuya; then to dazai— a slight tilt of the head, a warning. ]
i really need to color more
Dostoevsky could do so much more damage.
Not without his say-so.]
time for everyone to fly osamu airlines (LMK IF THIS IS OK.....)
fyodor meets dazai's eyes, rictus grin widening grotesquely. well, dazai did warn chuuya. crime and punishment is sleeping beneath no longer human— humming through arteries and veins, to the beat of fyodor's heartbeat. an even pace despite the promise of pain, which fyodor can withstand but does not care to unless it is necessary. he tolerated ace breaking that bottle over his head only because he'd get to kill him later. in this instance the rules are different, not only is chuuya significantly more powerful and important on the board, but—
dazai is entwined with this godling. it is plain to see, how their relationship unfolds in front of his mind. the interactions here filling in whatever doubts and blanks he'd had before. fyodor doesn't know everything; the different shades that colour human interactions are present but not always taken into account. a mistake, dazai had said, not to take into account the spark that drove humans. hadn't nikolai said something along the same lines too? yes, fyodor vaguely remembers.
there is a scalpel up the sleeve of his right hand, without tainted he could sacrifice his throat to deliver an equally fatal blow. he weights that option, eyes turning back to chuuya. but but—
dazai had said he would show him what made humanity — what dazai sees in them. and fyodor had agreed to it. it had not been a binding contract but he feels compelled to honour the agreement. what a strange sentiment to have for someone who discards people at breakneck speed. the conflict is present, deep beneath the amethyst shade of his eyes, hard.
does that make chuuya the in-flight snack??
Picking only one option is for losers, anyway.]

the blow to his stomach will bruise; aches, now despite the way he stares dully at chuuya, hair fisted. ah, fyo thinks abstractly, that if he were to die here it would be pretty interesting. would chuuya snap his neck? or slam him on the floor until all his bones broke? not wanting or wanting to die has nothing to do with this train of morbid thoughts. his mind always does this, unfolding before his eyes a variety of futures, all possible and unlikely in their individual ways.
dostoevsky's bloodied mouth smiles up at chuuya, tendons in his neck protesting at the angle he's being held. the dullness recedes like the tide, replaced quickly by invitation. if dazai is done playing here, fyodor is happy to fill in -not upside down, no, but there are many ways to skin a cat. or a shear a sheep, as the case may be.
his hands are free, up close like this he slides a palm along the edge of chuuya's pants, stopping very deliberately in the middle, thumb playing with the zipper before dostoevsky stills again.
and really, he's not willing to give dazai any crumbs after he'd just so very rudely left him to die at chuuya's hands. ]

[This is bad in a completely different way now.]
I won't kill your pet this time.

I know he's tempting to poke at, but I promise you his bite is worse than yours.
no subject
but he tolerates this, as much as he tolerates being manhandled despite absolutely disliking it. fyo is patient, he will bide his time with both men in this room, for different reasons.
now that chuuya has released him, fyo runs a hand through his hair smoothing the strands from said grip. where he stands, between chuuya and dazai and out of touch from both of them is a better strategic position. back still pressed against the wall, he is rather still because while chuuya can hit much harder that knee before still hurt.

And he's still worried about the rat's Ability, so at first he just thinks that Dazai is suggesting they'd both die, if Chuuya tried anything, because his Ability would work as a backlash. It's not until the Chuuhuahua comment that it sinks in.]

In spite of saying what he just did, Dazai might still refuse Fyodor if he had a good reason to... but he doesn't really, so why would he?
